Dead Ringer

The first triptych is called “Dead Ringer” and inspired by Marc Martel’s (@marcmartel) song with the same title.

“Before you say, ‘Nothing new (s)he’s ever (sho)t’ / Let me tell you that I beat ya to it”

Marc Martel was part of a Christian band called Downhere that I loved (and still do). Several years ago he recorded and put on YouTube “Somebody to Love” (a song written by Freddy Mercury), and the rest is history. He has been touring with a Queen Tribute band for many years and has recorded a few solo albums. On his last one, entitled Impersonator, he sings this song, “Dead Ringer.” I can only imagine how grateful he is to Freddy Mercury’s legacy and how ready he is to be seen as an excellent singer in his own right.

“Dead Ringer: I just try to be myself”

My pictures might look like other artists’ pictures. I am not trying to imitate or to copy. Maybe at times I may be trying to look up to those from whom I am learning. I don’t want to wear a mask. I don’t want to be someone else. I want to be myself.

“Dead Ringer: I got to be myself / Cuz I can’t be no one else / Lord, let me be myself”

So, this is me. Stay tuned for more every Monday and go to @the.untamed.portraits to see more. In the meantime let me know: Who are you? Who are you trying to be?
